Basic familiarity with landscape irrigation systems, drip irrigation, or water distribution methods used in residential, commercial, or agricultural settings. 

Ability to read and understand technical instructional materials related to irrigation equipment, system components, and water use concepts. 

Current or prior involvement in irrigation, landscaping, turf management, agriculture, or related water-use fields.

This course is intended for individuals working in, studying, or otherwise engaged in irrigation, landscaping, water management, or related fields.

Goals: 

1. Provide the student with an understanding of the principles and advantages of subsurface irrigation systems. The course explains how subsurface irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone to improve water efficiency and reduce surface water loss.

2. Introduce the components and operation of subsurface irrigation systems. Students will gain familiarity with system components including tubing, emitters, filtration, pressure regulation, valves, and monitoring devices.

3. Explain common applications and appropriate uses of subsurface irrigation. The course covers agricultural, landscape, turf, and specialty applications where subsurface irrigation can be effectively implemented.

4. Increase the student’s awareness of challenges, limitations, and maintenance considerations associated with subsurface irrigation systems. Students will learn how factors such as water quality, soil type, system design, and maintenance affect system performance.

5. Develop the student’s understanding of the environmental impacts and future trends related to subsurface irrigation. The course addresses water conservation benefits, potential environmental considerations, and emerging technologies influencing subsurface irrigation practices.

Each section will be followed by a quiz.
